Neo Industrial's latest investment and third industry segment is Viscose Fibers, i.e. Avilon Ltd. In September 2010, Neo Industrial acquired the Valkeakoski-based production facility from the former Kuitu Finland's bankrupty estate. Avilon's viscose fiber production was started in January 2011.
Avilon manufactures cellulose-based viscose fiber for the textile and fabric industries. Avilon's speciality product is fire-retardant viscose fiber, needed more and more in homes, protective clothing and, for example, vehicles. Market research shows that the demand for fire-retardant fiber is on the rise especially in North America, as fire safety regulations concerning textiles and fabrics tighten.
Avilon's main market areas are, in addition to the United States, Europe and China. Avilon's strengths are the well-known, high-quality products of the Valkeakoski factory as well as a very experienced, professional staff and effective production. Avilon also aims to lead the way in sustainable development by creating innovative technologies and fiber products.
The re-startup of the factory has created some 200 jobs in Valkeakoski.
